Story

We are raising money for the Sheffield Hospitals Charity, the Bereavement Fund.

Our beautiful baby boy Noah, was born asleep on the 18th July 2013. He was born at 25 weeks and 1 day. We had a difficult time during our pregnancy and my waters broke at 23 weeks. We are from Doncaster but were transferred to the Jessops wing of Sheffield Hospital, which was to become our safe haven for the next two weeks.

The care we received from the team was brilliant, and the support we had from the medical staff to the dinner ladies and cleaners, was overwhelming.

Unfortunatley during a routine check, Noah's heart beat could not be found and we were transferred to the labour ward to deliver our baby. We were so in shock and I dont know how we would have got through the next few hours without the support of our wonderful midwife. Noah was born and looked so perfect, so tiny, so beautiful, so peaceful.

Noah entered our world asleep at 07.50 and we were able to have Noah with us to enjoy cuddles all day and through the night, up until 12 the next day when I felt ready to leave the hospital.

We were able to keep him with us in the same room that I had delivered him in as the hospital have a refrigerated cot that enables babies to spend time with their parents and loved ones following their passing. The time we were able to share with Noah has provided us with precious memories and the endless cuddles that we never would have been able to have if it wasnt for this valuable peice of equipment.

We would like to raise funds to enable the hospital to purchase another cold cot so that every parent has the chance to say goodbye to their child. The death of our baby is something that we will never get over, but we will always treasure the memories we have of being able to spend family time with him after his birth.

The hospital only has one of these cots on the labour ward and even when I had Noah, unfortunately we weren’t the only parents to be going through this experience, and it saddens me to think that they wouldn’t have had the opportunity to spend  time with their baby like we did.

There are many charities that we have benefited from during this time and once we have been able to provide the hospital with a cold cot then we will continue to raise more funds for the other charities that we are most grateful for.

Many thanks for taking the time to read our story and we would like to thank everyone in advance for donating to such a worth while cause.
