Story
The offer of some last minute entries courtesy of Liver4Life and a rather spur of the moment decision has led myself, Morgan and Amy to try and cram training for a 10 mile race into just under a month! With all of us being keen runners but having been out of training for some time, this is going to be some feat to try and cross the finish line in one piece and with a respectable time!
Your liver is the second largest organ in your body and it works hard to perform a huge range of jobs (over 500!) to keep your body functioning such as: cleaning & filtering your blood, making & storing energy, vitamins & minerals, producing bile to help with digestion, breaking down medicines and assisting with blood clotting.
The liver can regenerate to a certain extent, but will silently take the abuse we put into our bodies and it is not until it is too late and disease is at its advanced stages that it will begin to show. Alcohol & Obesity are the two of the main causes of Liver Disease & I think it is safe to say both of these are fairly common occurrences in the UK and therefore put a lot of people at risk!
L4L is a new & modern charity dedicated to supporting those with Liver Disease (there are 100 kinds!), improve care, treatment and also help educate the importance of preventing Liver Disease , which is on the rise in the UK.
