Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I almost gave up on my marathon journey when the going got tough - BUT I really want to cross that line like my Dad did in 1982&1983 (albeit not in a shell suit!!) The idea of meeting the challenge whilst helping provide nutrition for these kids has motivated me to keep going. Please help me make it happen.......
As a family we support the work of Actions Not Words and I cannot begin to tell you the difference this charity makes to the lives of kids who have been brought up living and foraging for food in a hot and stinking rubbish dump in Nakuru, Kenya. That picture is of the gorgeous little boy Martin that we have the privilege of sponsoring through school. Local guy Ross Floyd set up this charity after visiting and it is absolutely incredible the progress that has been made in feeding and educating young kids and providing hope for a future.
Actions not words are in the process of finishing off building a kitchen in the government school which they have recently partnered with. The 500+ children come from the dumping site and rarely attend school due to their extreme level of poverty. Instead they would prefer to skip school and go to the dumping site to look for food.
For this reason the charity decided to build a them a fully equipped kitchen, and as of 1st October will be providing food and cooking for ALL 500 children everyday they attend school.
Providing a child with 1 meal per day will cost just £4 per month. With the program kicking off the charity is desperate for sponsors to fund this program and therefore Any money I raise will go to this project
.If I manage to raise £100 it would feed 25 children everyday for a whole month; or feed 2 child for an ENTIRE YEAR. That blows my mind!
