Story

My name's Emma and I've just turned 13, but I can't enjoy being a normal teenager.  Last year, after being very ill, I was finally told that I have a very rare Kidney Disease called FSGS.  Kidney Research is funding the research carried out by a charity called NeST, who are doing a study on FSGS.

Please help me to raise money directly for NeST as I desperately need them to find a cure for FSGS.  Without a cure, both my Kidneys will stop working and I will need to spend the rest of my life having to be hooked up to a Dialysis machine, for many hours, nearly every day.  Even a Kidney Transplant may not make me better, as FSGS can also attack transplanted kidneys.

My family and friends accompanied me on the Walk on the 26th September and it was a brilliant day, as you can see from the photos on the left.  I am so happy to have completed the distance.  Thank you so much for all the donations so far but I am still trying to raise as much money as I can .  After all, you're not just saving my life, but everyone else who has FSGS.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart ... 'cos that's still working ok !  Emma xxxx

Nephrotic Syndrome (NS) affects approx 10,000 people in the UK, majority are children, with no known cause or cure. The current treatment is non-specific and highly toxic, with many potentially life-threatening complications. NeST funds Bristol Children's Hospital in researching NS to find a cure.
