Story
'I'm going to succeed because I'm crazy enough to think I can!'
I have decided to undertake 3 'crazy' challenges between now and May 2017 to help raise awareness and funds for Parity for Disability. Starting with an abseil down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth in May, then a wing walk strapped to the top of a flying planegoing 100s mph in Septmber and finishing off with a 10 day trek along the Great Wall of China in May 2017!
I shall be raising funds mostly through sponsorship and fundraising events. I hope to hit my target before the end of the year and increase it to £5,000. I know that with the support of my family and friends I can do it! All of the money raised will go to maintaining Parity's vital services for people with multiple disabilities. You can find out more about what they do here: www.parityfordisability.org.uk
Parity for Disability provides vital services for people with multiple disabilities in Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire and beyond.
Like all human beings, each person with multiple disabilities has their own needs, likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses. Each has a future, and the ability to learn and grow throughout their life.
Each person can enjoy a good quality of life and achieve their potential.
Most of the people who use Parity's services have a physical disability along with learning difficulties, and possibly sensory impairments or epilepsy. Most use a wheelchair and have limited movement. Most
do not use speech. They don't fit into a neat category of physical or learning disability, so few services have evolved for them.
Parity for Disability exists to provide practical support and meet their needs. 'Parity' means equality. Our philosophy of Equality, Dignity and Rights for people with multiple disabilities is the driving force behind everything we do.
