On 30th April I am taking part in the Gung-Ho! fun run in Manchester. I have chosen to raise money on behalf of UN Women. This entity of the UN was created in 2010 for gender equality and the empowerment of women. 

Gender equality is a human right and essential to economic development yet discrimination towards women remains deeply entrenched in societies around the world. Even in the UK this is particularly poignant in the wage gap which still exists between men and women today. Empowerment of those who have faced discrimination is fundamental in tackling this issue and education is essential to this which is why I have chosen to support this charity.
