Story
As parents, we are grateful every day that our children can attend school in a new building well stocked with modern facilities. However, even in this new space there are still opportunities to improve the environment our children learn in and contribute to the continuing development of the school. The school aims to create an Interactive Learning Space that combines a selection of library books with several one-to-one or small-group teaching areas. With the help of the PFE and us as parents, we can make this an engaging, creative, multi-functional space, beyond what the school originally planned.
The area, on the 1st floor of the Omega building, will act as an extension of the classroom for all years in KS1 and KS2. The library will contain a mix of fiction, non-fiction, rhyme and newspapers/magazines. There will also be an iPad zone to complete the whole interactive experience. The fun colours and layout, and the specially designed bookshelves with front-facing displays, create an exciting and engaging place for the children to read and learn. The area will also include revolving displays, themes and book reviews to keep the area fresh.
As well as supplying the new books, the school is part funding this project. We are hoping to match the school's investment, and with your support of West End Lane Bookshop (who give 10% of their sales to Emmanuel parents to the school for new book purchasing), we hope the bookshop donation will help to keep the books renewed each year.
With the amazing funds already raised through PFE events this year, we are already part of the way there but we will be doing some extra fundraising, such as ice cream sales (making the most of the great weather!) and at International Evening. Following feedback from parents, we have set up this new PFE Just Giving website so that direct donations can benefit from Gift Aid – an extra 25p for every £1 given.
Any proceeds beyond the cost of this project will go towards developing the outside balcony areas which will take the library and teaching areas outside, come rain or shine.
If you have any questions please speak to your PFE representative.
