My story starts with my friend Kylie Sullivan and her family 'The Sullivans'. Kylie is my best friend as well as my housemate who I have grown up with since school, which lead me to become good friends with her family, John being her Dad. John lead a extraordinary life raising 5 children with his wife Jubbly, as well as taking on the numerous friends which they welcomed into their family home. Infact they watered and feed most of Penwith! John owed a diner called 'Sullivans' aka 'The Caf' which was the perfect stopping ground for a sausage sandwich, and a cup of tea after wild parties at 6am the next morning. He would tell us how awful we looked and how much we smelt, feed us and kick us out! I think I can vouch for everyone in saying that John had a heart of gold and would give you his last rolo.
John fell sick with cancer in July 2015 and passed away just 11 weeks after diagnosis. It was so tragic and I don't think anyone could believe it had happened. I still can't. Witnessing the suffering it has upon their family, especially living with Kylie was like nothing Iv'e ever dealt with. You can't take their pain away or say anything to bring John back. With feeling so helpless, I thought running the London Marathon for Cornwall Hospice Care was a way to say thank you for the care he had at St.Julia's Hospice. I know John felt at ease in their care and was treated like he had a voice.
John, I promise to run with you for 26.2 miles until I cross the finishing line, raising as much money for St. Julia's/Cornwall Hospice Care as possible. If I ever start to look like I can't keep going just give me a kick up the ass. I mean it's only running, you endured much more suffering and never moaned. xxxxx
