Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I work for the Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF) and have been greatly inspired by one of our trustees, Graham Duncanson.  He's a retired equine vet who is cycling from Norfolk to Cape Town over 2 years to raise money for AWF.

Graham decided that it would be much more fun to have a companion with him, so he set off with not one, but two bikes from AWF's offices on 7th June, accompanied by an ex trustee, TV vet Emma Milne.

Since then he's cycled with various companions who've flown out to join him and has even managed to get both bikes from A to B during times when he had no companion.

He's now in Italy and needs someone to join him for some of the way. So, after much cajoling, I decided to cycle down the east coast of Italy with him from Pescara to Bari.  This was rather a last minute plan, so I now have less than two weeks to get myself 'bike ready'!  I'm a novice cyclist and have warned Graham that I can't go uphill.  We have 4 days to do the journey, so I hope he doesn't have to tow me part of the way!

Graham's keeping an excellent blog which he updates almost daily with a snapshot of the day and pictures.  I really recommend taking a look: https://vetduncdares.wordpress.com/

AWF is currently working on a project to help tackle the growing problems of puppy farming and the illegal puppy trade.  We've created a puppy contract which we recommend using when buying a puppy. To find out more about this and other petcare advice we offer, visit: http://www.bva-awf.org.uk/pet-care-advice
