Story
Essential Living creates homes and communities around London, but unfortunately there are still those who sleep rough night after night without a home of their own; so supporting charities that help the homeless is a cause that our team want to get behind.
The Passage are a charity based close to our office in Westminster. They have a team of 8 people who religiously reach out to over 200 people every day who are sleeping rough in Victoria; providing basic care and the means to make a fresh start.
The Passage requires £4m a year to continue its work through food banks, a 40-bed hostel they run, and 16 self-contained flats they've acquired. With only 40% of that £4m currently being funded they obviously require as much assistance as possible – and that’s where we come in!
Essential Living are aiming to raise £3,200 in support of The Passage, and to earn it, we’re taking part in the gruelling Tough Mudder. The course is 10-12 miles long and features over 20 obstacles designed to test our teamwork, camaraderie and mental grit. There will be ice baths, tall walls, monkey bars, 10,000 volts of electric and – of course – tonnes of mud!
Needless to say we’ll be going through a lot – both physically and mentally – so we hope everyone will dig deep, donate big, and help us on our way to our £3,200 target.
