Story

Our Athletics Club has gone from strength to strength this year setting 56 PBs, breaking 21 club records, topping our league and smashing UEA!

All that and we haven't even finished for the year, with the BUCS Outdoor Championships and our League Final still to look forward to!

However, we have to provide for our 85 competitors on a budget that was made back when we only had a fraction of competitors. So our members now have to fund their own training fees, transport and competition entry.

To raise some much needed funds our Captain Jason John Eghan will be running the Colchester Castle Park Park Run this Saturday (9am, 23/04/16). As the club record holder for Shot Put, he is used to working for just a few seconds at a time, the 5km race will be a huge challenge.

If you could spare a donation, big or small, it would really be appreciated by our club members.

I'm sure Jason would really appreciate any support at the event too; whether that's running alongside him, cheering from the side or joining us for our weekly trip to the cafe after! You'd also be able to meet some of the team who have worked so hard to help the club be shortlisted for Club, Social Club and Team of the Year at our upcoming University Sports Awards.

All named donations will receive a Thank You card from Jason, a personalised tweet from the club account (@EssexAthletics) and a mention on our Facebook page and in our newsletter once all donations are collected.

Thank you!

About the charity

..At Essex we’re not like other SU’s and we don’t want to be. We're a group of 13,000 students on a mission, an adventure to become the world’s most student-centred organisation. It’s ambitious and challenging, yet short enough to fit in a tweet. With two characters spare.
