Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm raising money to support Skye Mountain Rescue Team. They rescued me after I fell and knocked myself unconscious, attempting a climb on the Cuillin Ridge in July 2015.
The team is made up of incredibly hard-working and dedicated volunteers. They respond to distress calls throughout the year, day or night to help people in trouble in the hills. They give up more of their spare time training, to ensure that they're able to deal with whatever challenges the mountains throw at them. The team that came to my aid had to carry me most of the way down the mountain, on a seriously heavy stretcher over steep, uneven ground. On steeper sections, the stretcher was on belay, secured by a rope as it was passed along a human chain. The team treated me with far greater care and attention for my safety than I gave myself. This was an accident that was caused by my own poor judgement, something I'm sure the whole team were aware of. Despite this, they all smiled and offered reassurance to me as they passed me along the line.
Skye Mountain Rescue Team are a registered charity which relies on donations to fund their operations and training. By donating to them you are helping them to continue their valuable work, helping those who in need of assistance in Skye's remote mountains.
In return for your donations, I'm going to be running the the Edinburgh marathon 29 May 2016, unofficially as I missed the deadline for registration! I will also be running the Loch Ness marathon 25 Sep 2016, officially.
