Thanks for taking the time to visit Evan's Trust.
In 2007 Laura and I found out we were expecting our first child; we hadn't planned for this but were thrilled non the less that we were going to be parents.
On the 17th August 2007 Evan George Brooke Steel, our first son was born. The most perfect and adorable son you will ever see...An Angel. After a massively complicated and prolonged labour sadly Evan was left in a critical state with severe brain damage. Evan passed away in our arms at 14 hours old.
Laura and I travelled through some dark times following on from this and our life’s would never be the same again.
In 2008 came the arrival of Scarlett Eve Brooke Steel, she was delivered via arranged C-Section. This is where Laura and I began to feel some kind of meaning within the world again. Scarlett is now 3 and a half and very clever!
In 2010 we had some fantastic news again! We were expecting our 2nd son. With an arranged C-Section of the 20th May 2011 we were really looking forward to meeting our little man. A mother’s intuition played its part and Laura felt we needed to go into hospital on the 19th May.
Roman George Brooke Steel was born via emergency C-Section that day fighting for his life. It was feared that he had severe brain damage, kidney problems, acid in his blood and a severe heart condition.
Roman was in the same neonatal intensive care unit as his brother Evan for 2 weeks. When he was strong enough he was taken to Glenfield Hospital to have heart surgery to correct his pulmonary valve. This operation was a great success and Roman is now fighting fit and crawling...nearly walking at 11 months.
Laura and I are so appreciative of the kind staff at Leicester General Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and all they did for us with both Evan and Roman. We are trying to raise money to help support the ward and buy the things they really need to save life’s to help people in the same position as we were.
Please donate as generously as you can, we desperately want to get to £10,000 as a first target to show the ward how grateful we are for all their help and support.
In loving memory of the greatest son ever born... Our little fighter.
"Forget Me Not"
Forget me not, I ask of you
Wherever your life takes you to
And if we never meet again
Think of me every now and then
We had just one day to recall
Now all I want is something more
Than just a fading memory
Left wondering what could have been.
Isn't it a shame, that when timing's all wrong
You're doing what you never meant to,
There's always something that prevents you.
Well I believe in fate, it had to happen this way
But it always leaves me wondering whether...
In another life we'd be together.
We should feel lucky we can say... we've always got yesterday
And as I leave it all behind
You're still emblazoned in my mind
And for that very special day
Nobody loved me in that way
Forget me not, I ask of you
Wherever your life takes you to
And if we never meet again
Think of me every now and then Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
