Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
4 years ago I went to the befriending scheme hub group, I was shy and nervous.
I wasn't happy, (I spent years being ridiculed and alone because I was different).
I was made to feel welcome, and feel comfortable being me.
I soon come to realize that we are all different and that's a wonderful thing.
That's the thing about befriends, its a save haven, you know that no one will judge you and it makes everyone feel safe.
We all pull together to help each other and we do the best we can for the members.
Over the years i have watched the members come out of their shell and really blossom.
We have watched, hugged and held peoples hands as they go though difficult points in life, we show that they are not alone.
The members can come to us if they have a problem, if they are happy to we act on their behalf.
There's lots of day to day things we take for granted that people with disabilities need help with and they shouldn't feel ashamed that they cant do something.
We teach and show that its ok and to keep on trying.
Thursdays and the hub group is the best day of the week, seeing all of those happy faces.
The befriending scheme is how the world should be we look at the bigger picture and except people for who they are. <3
