2013 and we continued with Cancer Focus NI as our chosen Cancer Charity. We were blessed with possibly the best weather the FROG has enjoyed to date. The participation broke all previous records at 165+ cyclists with a total being raised of £16,600. We have said it before, but we were truly humbled this year.
In 2012 we embraced Cancer Focus NI as our chosen Cancer Charity and were surprised by the growth in numbers (up to 120) and associated giving with £12,600 being raised.
2011 was a difficult financial year for everyone but even in this economy there was a turnout of 105 cyclists gathering £7,000 for Marie Curie. – well done everyone.
In 2010 seen a turnout of 100 cyclists gathering a total in excess of £8,200 for Marie Curie. Very humbling. Looking forward to 2011
In 2009 the pace certainly increased on a day which started sunny and ended a little drizzly. The enthusiasm of all participants could not be dampened and we raised over £7,000 for Marie Curie in a particularly challenging economic environment. Well done everyone.
In 2008 the crusade continued on a particular windy day with tears coming from grown men. The evening entertainment was as memorable as it was dramatic with everyone toroughly enjoying the day's craic. In excess of £13,000 was raised, which elevates the bar further for 2009.
In 2007, the baton was passed to a few Glenravel lads who came up with the “FROG” (Fun Run Of the Glens). With a view to some fun, thecharity cycle included a evening of entertainment in the local parish hall which was hailed by all as an excellent day and night. In excess of £12,000 was raised, which has set the bar very high for 2008.
In 2006, a motley crew of amateur cyclists set off from theGlenBarin Glenbush, near Loughgeil, to complete 100 miles around the Glens of Antrim in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Over £6,000 was raised. The organiser, Loughgeil man Francis “Fred” McIntyre, then left to make his fortune in the deserts of Saudi Arabia .
