Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
I'm running for 'The Leon Heart Fund'' in memory of a very cheeky and lovable little boy, Leon Montanari. Leon was born with a condition that meant he needed a heart transplant at the very young age of 10 months old but he kept a cheeky (some may say mischievious!) smile on his face each day.
Leon's mum, Julie, set up the charity in 2009 to keep his memory alive and to support the children and families who attend the Cardiac wards at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and the Special Care Baby Unit at Singleton Hospital, Swansea. Her extremely hard work and dedication to the charity was recognised in 2015 by Tesco, as she was named 'Mum of the Year' and very rightly so.
The charity has gone on to support many families and in 2015, Leon’s 'Quiet Room' was opened at the University Hospital of Wales which shows that the money raised, really does help many people.
Leon's favourite colour was purple which explains the theme of this JustGiving page! I'll be running/hobbling along in as much purple as possible...
Thanks for taking the time to read about the Leon Heard Fund! I hope this short little bit of information gives you an insight into how and why it is so close to my heart.
