We raise awareness of cavernoma to improve the lives of people affected

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

B. was (eventually) diagnosed with a cavernoma 12 months ago. Doctors initially quickly dismissed her requests for MRIs because it was "just a tingling arm". She persevered, was lucky enough to afford a private MRI and was eventually diagnosed with a cavernoma in her brain. If left unchecked, this could have had dire consequences on her health, including death.

Cavernomas are clusters of abnormal blood vessels that are prone to bleeding. They are found in the brain and/or spinal cord.

More education on cavernomas is required, both for patients and medical professionals. The money raised will be used to provide that and support and research to improve the quality of life of people affected by cavernomas. It is possible to lead a reasonably normal life with most cavernomas if the right precautions are taken. However, if left unchecked, it could lead to brain haemorrhage and the various consequences that come with it.
