Story
In September, i will be taking part in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain which is a cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats covering 969 miles in 9 gruelling days and elavation of two times Mount Everest
For this, i will be raising money for a local charity - Carney's Community who are a registered charity that gets
disadvantaged and excluded young people off the street and away from a life of
crime and despair by giving them skills, discipline and self-respect. This is done through a combination of long
term & consistent mentoring with unconditional support and empathy,
alongside positive and constructive activities, with a focus on boxing.
Their approach, inspired by boxing legend Mick
Carney, is unusual and particularly resource intensive but ultimately effective
through recognising that creating lasting change takes time, hard work and
dedication.
Their work reduces offending, re-offending and
anti-social behaviour, whilst improving social mobility and community cohesion,
and offers opportunities for employment of the participants as well as
supporting many of them to set up their own community projects and businesses.
Consequently improving the quality of life for the communities they serve.
I would be hugely grateful for any donations, whatever the size which will make a huge difference to this great cause.
Thanks,
Felix
