Story
We wanted to write down exactly what it is like to lose a child, but for some reason the page stayed empty……………….. and we couldn’t have described it any better.
What we can do is tell you our story and why we are raising funds for 4Louis.
On the 12th February 2016, we were given the devastating news that our baby had died at 32 weeks. I was given a tablet, sent home and 2 days later I was admitted to give birth to our beautiful baby daughter Fern. Whilst in hospital the midwives told us about 4Louis, and created a beautiful memory box for us, with prints of Ferns hands and feet, photos, two teddies, one for Fern and one for us, along with many other precious mementoes. We vividly remember leaving hospital without our baby girl and thinking all we had was a box, but in time we have taken a great deal of comfort from that “box”, it has provided us with the few precious memories of our daughter, which we will treasure for a lifetime.
Along with our friends and family we are therefore, trying to raise as much money as possible in Fern’s memory, to enable 4Louis, to continue providing bereaved families of children (not only stillborn babies) with these priceless memory boxes and cool cots. Unfortunately, in the UK 17 babies die each day either before birth or shortly after.
We have already held a quiz, had friends and family throw themselves out of a plane and on the 10th September, we aim to conquer Snowdon, with Ross and friends running a half marathon the following week on the 18th!
We know everyone is always asking for money, but if you can donate no matter how small, it really will make a difference. Luckily this is a charity that most of you will never come across, but if you were to lose a child, I promise, you would want them by your side.
Thank you for reading our story.
