Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have had our hearts broken at Cats Protection Bridgend, by 7 kittens which came into our care in a horrific condition. They belonged to an elderly couple who had to go into a care home as they were too ill to care for themselves due to having dementia and other health problems. The kittens were very malnourished; some were too weak to hold their heads up. They had severe flu, were unable to open their eyes due to severe inflammation and were struggling to breathe because they were so congested. They also had a huge flea and round worm infestation.
The kittens were admitted to us on Monday 8th August, our team alongside our vets have worked very hard since then to save the kittens, sadly it was too late for some of them and we lost the two weakest ones today, another one is fighting for its life at our vets. The remaining
four kittens have made some improvement over the last 24 hrs, one was even starting to play, we are desperately hoping they will pull through. We have taken in one adult from the house who
has also developed flu, and are bringing in the remaining six adults cats in the next couple of days.
To give the kittens the best chance of survival our vet has advised to treat them with an anti-viral drug which is very costly, as well as the antibiotics, pain relief, eye drops and fluids they are already on. We are
expecting the vet bill for the kittens to run into hundreds of pounds and by the time the adults are admitted, treated, neutered etc. well over £1000. We have set up this just giving page to help pay for the cost of the treatment, so please give generously. In the case of too much money being raised, any balance remaining will go to help other unwanted cats and kittens in our care.
