Story
Last December, whilst out for a drink, my bezzie Jasmin and I struck up a conversation with a homeless man called Damien which resulted in me promising to buy him a sleeping bag if he contacted me. Unfortunately when Damien called from a stranger's mobile the next day, I was in a meeting and, when I called back, he had moved on and I had missed him. I have thought about that ever since. I wasn't able to keep my promise to Damien but realise that I can still play a small part in helping one, or maybe two, homeless people be a bit more comfortable this winter and so I have decided to stop drinking alcohol for one month to raise money for Thames Reach.
"Thames Reach is a London-based charity helping homeless and vulnerable people to find decent homes, build supportive relationships and lead fulfilling lives." Find out more about the good work the charity does at http://www.thamesreach.org.uk/
I don't know what has happened to Damien but he seemed like a survivor and, thanks to Jasmin, he had a nice thick (although rather yellow) scarf to wear last winter:
