Story
As some of you will know, my friendship group is very close-knit. Sadly, on August 24th 2015, Matthew Cox, known as Coxy, was suddenly taken from us leaving a huge hole in our hearts. He was core to our group, as an irreplaceable friend, a truly joyful spirit and a character full of charm and wit.
To me, Coxy stood by my side throughout my 7 years at Sackville. He sat by my side in every lesson and walked by my side through Madagasar. He held my hand as my prom date and carried me when walking in heels became just too much on nights out. Above all, he was the perfect gentleman.
Coxy suffered from Epilepsy, which ultimately led to his passing. To you and me, Coxy was healthy, lively and outgoing. He did not let anything hinder him from striving to achieve his dreams within his academic, sporting and personal lives.
In memory of Coxy's sad passing, I am running the Edinburgh Marathon on May 29th, to raise money for a cause dear to his heart and raise awareness for other Epilepsy sufferers. Coxy was an avid and promising cricketer, with his weekends devoted to the game. His club, Edenbridge Cricket Club, have been of tremendous support during this difficult time. It is now that we are giving back to Coxy and his club, by fundraising to build a long-awaited cricket pavilion, to be named the Matt Cox Pavillon. Find out more information on our team page.
My target for the fund is £500. Any donations would be gratefully received. Training begins 7th February, and I will keep you up-to-date with the progression during this time.
