Story
As some of you may know I recently lost my brother Ian who was
involved in a car crash which happened in Herefordshire Friday 6th
November 2015. In his memory I am going to do an 8 day trek of the Great Wall of China this September for charity.
I have decided that my chosen charity will be MARS, Mercia
Accident Response Services – This charity provides enhanced medical care to the people of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Ian was involved in a car incident on Friday 6th November 2015 - due to the severity of his injuries he had to be transferred to Queen Elisabeth’s Hospital Birmingham. The MARS medics were first to the scene and provided immediate medical treatment, they then ensured doctors were staged along the way to the hospital delivering continuous care – upon arriving Ian went straight into surgery, despite the efforts of the MARS team and the surgeons at Queen Elisabeth Hospital my brother tragically passed away on Monday 9th November.
MARS’s efforts to get my brother to hospital gave my mum, dad and I the chance to spend the weekend with Ian - time with him which would have been denied if had not made the journey. It also gave the chance for his friends to come and say their goodbyes on Monday 9th November when Ian passed. I was given 48 hours extra with my brother
that would have not been possible without the help of this charity - I will
never be able to repay them the chance they gave me to say goodbye to my brother.
Upon understanding Ian was not going to recover from his
injuries as a family we decided to donate his organs - again this would not have been possible if Ian had not made it to the hospital - 5 of Ian’s organs were donated, which changed the fate of five people’s lives.
In honour of my amazing brother I decided I was going to raise
money for the charity MARS to support the incredible work they do. MARS is a registered charity which exists in order to deliver enhanced immediate medical care to the people of Herefordshire and Worcestershire. MARS is funded by charitable donations without which they would not be able to provide the service they do.
This year on the 16th September I will be flying to Beijing and will start an 8 day trek of the Great Wall of China to raise money for MARS – All of my costing’s will be self-funded meaning any donations will go directly to MARS - the charity will not cover any of my expenses. In total I will walk around 50 miles over the course of 8 days.
I am asking therefore if you have any spare change to please
donate to my page for this charity – without them 5 people would not have been given a second chance and I would not have got to say goodbye to my amazing brother Ian.
