Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A year after nearly losing Kate to a pregnancy complication, we were getting back to normal family life.
Kate needed a routine keyhole procedure which seemed to go well until a day later. Her bowel had been unknowingly perforated during the op & she was gravely ill. An emergency loop colostomy was formed but Kate did not cope well. Eventually her Stoma Nurse advised her to try The Colostomy Association Facebook support group. It was there she found support & answers. She also saw how there are many people with stomas; it's not unusual.
Kate's colostomy was successfully reversed January 2014 but, she is far from recovered due to various complications. The CA still support her and so many others (from young children through to the elderly) and this is my way of thanking them and raising much needed awareness. By doing so, perhaps there will be a better understanding & acceptance for the many colostomates today.
