Story
I am raising money for Swale Special Needs Nursery, which is part of the Medway Maritime Hospital group.
Oliver has global delay and the nursery played a huge part in helping him to make progress and supporting the whole family. This is what Oliver's mum has to say about the nursery:
"Our main worry was that he would never walk. When he started there he could not stand, did not sleep and could not feed himself, even though he was 2 years and 3 months old. When he started at the nursery I wasn’t ready to hand him over to strangers and the first time he went he cried himself to sleep. The women who work at the nursery didn’t give in, they were so caring and after we told them that a certain Cbeebies song calmed Oliver down they bought the album and played it in the background until he became settled. They were supportive to Ollie but also to us as a family. Over the 2 years he was there the staff taught me that Oliver needed tough love to help him progress - he may have special needs but he is a stubborn little man. With their help Oliver learned to finger feed, use a spoon to feed himself a yoghurt, pull himself up to standing and after a tough battle learned to use his kaye-walker walking frame. The day Oliver left was a sad day for us all as a family. It was sad to be saying goodbye to an important part of Ollie’s journey but, to see him walk out of there using his walking frame was amazing and I know without the help of Swale Special Needs Nursery that wouldn’t have happened and I cannot thank them all enough."
Please help me to raise as much money as possible to help support other children and families. Thank you.
