Story
On the 9th July I will be attempting to climb three large mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scarfell Pike) and Wales (Snowden) in 24 hours!! The 3 peaks challenge is a test of endurance and all round fitness. The nature of this challenge means that I will be climbing 2 of the 3 mountains after very little rest and/or no sleep.
I face two challenges:
One : - I only have a limited amount of time to raise at least £500 and ideally as much as possible to make my participation in the event worthwhile for Bristol City Community Trust . Therefore any and all donations will be very greatly received.
Two:- Whilst I have been up Snowden before I am not a regular climber/ outdoor pursuit sports person and therefore I will need to train to avoid this being a painful exercise.
The timetable to date is as follow:
Tuesday 21st June - Committed to doing the event for Bristol City Community Trust
Thursday 23rd June - Set up Just Giving page to raise money for the Charity
Saturday 25th June - Climbed Scarfell Pike with Miles (my son) to get some idea of fitness level required to do this.
Sunday 26th June - Fundraising off to a good start and hopefully target will be exceeded before the event takes place. However my legs didn't react well to going up Scarfell and therefore I now know that I will need to devote a significant amount of time to training in the next week or so to ensure this is an enjoyable rather than painful experience.
Monday 27th June - Initial minumum fundraising target of £500 achieved, and therefore set myself a revised target of £1000.
