Story
Just before Christmas my wife, Wyn, who had been fighting for weeks in St Mary’s Hospital, died just as we were told she was through the worst. She was a very special, spiritually and emotionally generous person, who not only blessed our family but also reached out far and wide in enhancing the lives of so many others. She committed such a large part of her life to supporting those affected by autism, way beyond the normal course of duty, in a very practical and unassuming way, both directly and indirectly. She was totally devoted and conscientious in helping our son Michael, affected by Aspergers, to develop into a fine young man. Throughout 50 years of a beautifully conjoined marriage Wyn was unfailingly supportive, latterly and importantly in the evolution of Research Autism.
Therefore, in order to ensure that she is more than just a memory, but rather a positive spirit who continues to live within us as a vital force for good, as we continue to build on her legacy, the three generations of my family, together with friends, will be competing in running events on the weekend of 21/22 March – in memory of Wyn and in support of Research Autism. On Saturday 21st March my sons, Paul and Michael, and myself, together with a number of friends will be running the Eton Dorney Half Marathon. And to ensure that her generosity of spirit passes through to the next generation, on the following day one of my grandsons, Joseph aged 10, who is not yet up to half marathons, will accompany us together with a young friend on a 10k run.
I am seeking your support in memory of a selflessly remarkable lady, Wyn, and in the earnest belief it will make a huge difference to the lives of a large community. It will be deeply appreciated.
