Story
At some point in October I must have lost my presence of mind. This was confirmed by November when it became apparent that a casual conversation had become an agreement to take on the mantle of Pheidippides and run the London Marathon. I hope to end up in better shape than he did and that you might be willing to encourage me in my training and the race by making a donation to Charterhouse in Southwark.
Charterhouse in Southwark aims to work in partnership with a number of charitable providers of services for children and young people in need in the London Borough of Southwark by making grants to help their work, to raise aspirations and achieve ambitions.
The charity was founded in 1885 as “The Charterhouse Mission” by old boys of Charterhouse, an independent school in Surrey, and today works from a virtual office. Working from a virtual office means that the charity's costs are low: currently all the costs of employing the charity's one part-time employee are covered by a donation. All awards are made from income.
Organisations supported include the Dulwich Picture Gallery Education Department, Greenhouse London Football Club, Inspire at St. Peter's (a social club) and the charity provides a bursary for a sixth form place at Charterhouse.
Any donation will be most gratefully received by the people of Southwark who will benefit directly. Thanks in advance for your support.
