Successfully finished Glasgow Half Marathon today in unofficial time of 1 hour 46 minutes as a gentle training day in preparation for my coast to coast in two weeks time.
Ayrshire Cancer Support is a charity I always knew existed but didn’t think too much about until a member of my immediate family was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2011 during which time their services and support was invaluable to us all. Whilst we can’t repay them enough for what they did for my family, I wanted to do something which shows how much they are appreciated and to pay a little back.
For anyone who knows me I don’t do things by half so my challenges for 2012 are:
• 12 mile British Special Forces obstacle course known as Tough Mudder at Drumlanrig Castle on 15th July
• Glasgow Half Marathon on 2nd September
• Coast to Coast 105 mile race on 15th September taking me through some of the most iconic locations in the Scottish Highlands including Loch Ness, the Great Glen, Ben Nevis and Glen Coe.
I know I’ve asked for sponsorship for numerous charity fundraising events over the past few years but would really appreciate it if you could all dig deep once again and help me raise money for a very worthwhile charity whose services I hope you never need to use.
