We wanted to challenge ourselves and raise money for a charity that really make a difference. We both enjoy cycling and decided that the 555 miles from the Eiffel Tower to Blackpool Tower would provide the challenge we were looking for.

When it came to choosing a suitable cause for our sponsorship, Feet First Wordlwide was an obvious choice. George is a Podiatrist specialising in surgery in Blackpool (where the charity is based) and is well aware of the tremendous work that is undertaken by the team of volunteers. However anybody can see that enabling those less fortunate in terms of medical care to walk again or without pain is a worthy cause.

The Feet First team of medical professionals give their time and expertise to treat physical disabilities and teach orthopaedic procedures to indigenous medics in disadvantaged countries, such as Malawia and Loas, Vietnam.

The very worthy cause focuses particularly on treatment of Congenital Talipes Equino Varus (clubfoot). Treatment is based on either treating infants early with casting techniques to try and enable a normal development of the foot and ankle or adults who unfortunately didn't have access to the medical care we take for granted and now need reconstructive surgery to correct the deformity.

Knowing that our burning thighs and saddle sores could help the work of these selfless medical professionals will provide the motivation and drive we need to get to the finish at the Blackpool Tower.
