Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 17th of April, my 22nd birthday, I'm going to shave my head to help two charities.
Firstly, I'll be donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust, which gives real hair wigs to young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment, as well as conditions such as alopecia.
Secondly, because I'm probably going to look pretty weird, I'm asking you guys - my friends and vague facebook acquaintances - to sponsor my embaldening. Seeing me looking like an egg has to be worth a few coins, no? The money you donate will be going to a charity called Compassion in World Farming, which does vital work raising awareness and affecting policy on the treatment of farm animals in factory farms around the world. Factory farms have disastrous effects on the air you breathe, the communities they disrupt and pollute, the workers they exploit, the small farmers whose livelihoods they destroy, and most of all the billions of farm animals that end up in supermarkets and restaurants across the globe each year, who suffer intolerable cruelty throughout their short lives. Compassion in World Farming want to see better treatment for the animals that feed us, and to whom we owe protection and respect. Your donation will be helping people, animals and the planet – triple whammy! What more could you want?
The event itself will be taking place at my gaff in Oxford, and we’ll be getting some cake and a few cold ones in to celebrate the momentous hair harvest, so come on down.* No birthday presents please, just donate!
*If you don’t live in Oxford, have no fear: a short documentary film will be made of the shaving and will make the social media rounds for your viewing pleasure. Dir. Werner Herzog.
