We bring clean & sustainable energy to improve the lives of remote communities

Story

I'm still buzzing from Rio and it’s inspired me to push my fitness
even harder. So I’m doing the London Duathlon 2016 with two of my
closest friends, Oli and Sandra. But we know there are many people
for whom health and fitness are out of their reach because every day
is a simple struggle to survive. So every kilometre will be for them,
through a very special charity called Renewable World.

got involved with them in 2013 when I visited communities in Nepal for a BBC Lifeline Appeal where Renewable World had installed solar-powered water pumps to lift water uphill so women and young children didn’t have to have to spend hours each day making the hazardous journey to fetch water far from their homes. I was truly inspired by the work this amazing charity does and decided to become an Ambassador.

In 2014 I got Oli involved too and we self-funded a visit to their Comic Relief funded project in Kenya. Here we met people living in desperate poverty who are now seeing their lives completely transformed because of solar-powered Energy Hubs installed in their communities. They now have electricity to light their homes, chill their food and power their businesses. This means better education, better health, better incomes, better lives and better futures.

truly believe in what Renewable World is doing. Every penny donated goes where it should be going. I guarantee it. I know them, I’ve seen it. They are changing lives. I have no shame in exploiting my position to raise awareness and money for this amazing cause.   Here is an idea of what your donations can achieve:

£5 can give 3 Nepalese villagers access to clean water for a year.

£10 can give a fisherman living on the shores of Lake Victoria access to energy for a year, allowing them to refrigerate their fish and demand a fair price.

£15 can give a Nepalese villager access to clean, affordable and sustainable cooking gas for a year, preventing premature death from lung and eye disease.

£50 can buy a woman in Nepal an irrigation kit, enabling her to grow high value crops and improve her family's income.

£100 can give a family in Nicaragua access to solar power for a year, meaning they no longer have to pollute their home with toxic kerosene fumes and their children have light to study in the evening.

£500 can pay for business training for 3 communities in Nicaragua, allowing them to maximise the benefits from their solar energy units.
