Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking part in next year's Tough Mudder in Dumfries with the Tough Mudder Warriors, to raise money for Children In Poverty Inverclyde.

Inverclyde contains a disproportionate number of the poor, the vulnerable and the desperate. Child poverty in Inverclyde is at an all time high of 26%,increased from 24% in 2011 making the district joint 4th poorest council area in Scotland.  None of these children will enjoy a family holiday. Children in Poverty Inverclyde pays for children and their families to stay in a lovely holiday park in Hunters Quay in Dunoon across the River Clyde, where they will experience and enjoy the beautiful scenery and spectacular views of the Argyllshire Hills and Firth of Clyde and can relax for a while.

This is a double challenge for me, as not only is it the first time I will have challenged my body to this much exertion, but I'm doing it as a sufferer of HypoPARAthyroidism which affects the body's levels of calcium, phosphates and magnesium which are necessary for every nerve and muscle in the body to work properly. So please wish me extra luck!!

About the charity

1000 children in Inverclyde will not have a holiday, not be clothed properly and feel marginalised. Britain is the sixth largest economy in the world with more millionaires than ever,so why have 330,000 food parcels been handed out to hungry children, with Inverclyde accounting for 4000 of these parcels. It’s time to think Mission statement: Tackle Child Poverty Promote Equality Stimulate Children Encourage Participation Poverty can have a profound impact on the child, their family, and the rest of society. It often sets in motion a deepening spiral of social exclusion, creating problems in education, employment, mental and physical health and social interaction.
