Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Mum died on 27th October 2011.  She was in hospital for a week and throughout that time she treasured a picture of my grandaughter Abbie (her great grandaughter) who was born on 19th September 2011, it was in her hand throughout her ordeal.

This was only  possible because I had contacted Natalie for information on Vasa Praevia.  Lizzie  was diagnosed with having a problem with her pregnancy at her 20 week scan, although it was not at that point diagnosed as 'Vasa Praevia'.  That did not happen until she was 34 weeks.  This was far too late and even then, the doctors failed to give her the care that was needed.  Natalie adviced me on how to deal with this.  Because of her and the Vasa Praevia raising awareness organisation,  I was able to go into the hospital with all the information that was needed, to demand the correct treatment.  We would not have had Abbie, also my Mum would not have enjoyed those few short weeks that she had with her, and the comfort of that very first picture she held to the end.

Mum cherished all her 'babies' so much, she thought flowers at funerals were a waste of money.  Because of this we have requested no flowers, but donations to the charity that gave us our Abbie Marie.
