Thanks for taking the time to visit Go Blue For Lucia's JustGiving page. Time is Precious, who we have been working with since Go Blue For Lucia started last year, have kindly agreed to hold money raised for Bristol Children's Hospital on our behalf. Since we're not a registered charity, we can't have our own page, but money you donate here will be kept for us to spend in the way that Lucia considers to be a fitting legacy.

Lucia is 15, and now receiving palliative care at a beautiful hospice in the South West, where she is staying with her family. She has been battling astrocytoma, an aggressive tumour that has grown on her spine. Although she has been through radiotherapy and chemotherapy, her cancer has now been diagnosed as terminal.

Go Blue For Lucia came about when Lucia realised that people wanted to do something in her name to help children with cancer. She suggested people wear blue clothes, dye their hair blue, paint fingernails blue. We sold blue wristbands and had a 5K run where everyone wore blue. Lucia bought fans for to cool the children on the ward during the hot summer months, and Christmas presents for all the children on the ward, during a brief respite in her illness. We have several times stocked the parents’ coffee room with food and drinks and emergency washbags, and given financial donations to Teenage Cancer Trust, CLIC Sargent and Rainbow Trust, all at Lucia's request.

Lucia really is an extraordinary young woman. She has fought quietly but unwaveringly against her illness, never giving up hope, but never submitting to anger. Her dignity in the face of this unexpected, unfair blow has been an example to everyone, showing a courage and faith beyond her years.
