We are Fighting AIDS Worldwide to Help save lives

Story

I am looking for donations to my chosen charity to help eliminate AIDS. Any donation given will be gratefully accepted from 1p to as much as you can afford to give. If you can organise bake sales, car boot sales etc and donate funds raised that would be wonderful also.

I have funded this trek myself as I want all donations to go to the the Mercury Phoenix Trust. I have been a Queen fan all my life and those of you who know me personally realise just how much a part of my life there music has been.  This is a small way I can repay the enjoyment Freddie and the group have giving me in my 50 years.

A little about myself, Im not a fitness guru, Im a normal guy who loves football, especially Burnley FC, Music and Gardening. I have a family whom I love dearly and have supported me through many a difficult time in my life.  I have just started work as a TV extra so you may see me on your screens soon.

The trek itself will be over 10 days in November. Flying out on day 1 from London To Cusco in Peru. Day 2 we will arrive in Cusco and transfer to the hotel, the rest of the day will be free for us to acclimatise to the high altitude.  Day 3 we embark on an acclimatisation trek from Tambo Machay down to Sacayhuaman before returning to Cusco.

Day 4 we start the trek in ernest. Cusco is at 2650m above sea level and we will climb to 3000m to Wallabamba, we follow the Umubamba River before the trail becomes more undulating and reaches the Patallacta lookout, from there we wil have a view of an Inca town some 2700m above sea level and we will be looking down on it. we finish our climb at Wayllabamba and camp for the night.

Day 5, the most challenging day of all, climbing from 3000m to 4200m to Warmihuanusca or 'Dead Woman's Pass'. The air is thin a this altitude so some sickness is expected amongst the grou of trekkers. The climb will take between 5 and 6 hours and we will finally reach out destination, Pacaymayo Valley, our camp site over night.

Day 6 we have 2 more mountain passes to climb today and after the 2nd pass its all down hill. A 3rd pass has a tunnel to walk through which was dug out by the Incas, we finish at Winayhuayna and again camp for the night.

Day 7 we clmib to 2850m to reach Sun Gate, the optimum view of Machu Picchu our final destination. We climb down to 2400m to reach the Inca Village.

Day  8 return to Casco and we have the chamce to explore the town at our leisure and rest if needed.

Day 9 Is back t the airport and heading home

Day 10 return to the UK.

The entire trek is approximately 52km in length, but the climbing in high altitude makes its a tough challenge and an invigerating experience.

If there's anything else you'd like to know then please feel free to ask.
