Event: Robin Hood Half Marathon and Marathon 2016, on 25 September 2017
We promote and protect local wildlife to ensure that people can see and enjoy it

Story

Yep, you heard correctly, I am running the Robin Hood Marathon in September... all 26.2 miles of it! I still can't believe it myself! I have never ran a marathon before and I get knackered after running up a flight of stairs. I am therefore not looking toward to the endless 6am training sessions and the ice baths!

So why am I running the Robin Hood Marathon?

I have always wanted to run a marathon (I have not got a clue why!) and I have been unsuccessful in getting a ballot place in the London marathon the last five years. As some of you know, my dog Charlie sadly passed away at the start of December 2015 at the age of 13 half years old. He was my best friend and part of the family and so I thought it would be fitting if I could do something in rememberence.

I chose to run for the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust because as I am running a local marathon, I not only want to raise money for a local charity but I also want to give something back for all the lovely walks we had with Charlie in the countryside. We are also really lucky to have some bats nesting in a neighbour’s garden which have provided much fascination!

It is heartbreaking to think that without conservation, the Nottingham wildlife would disappear and other people would not have the chance to see it too. I really appreciate any donation no matter how big or small as it is going to a fantastic charity. 100% of your donation will go to the Nottingham Wildlife Trust, helping them to continue their work of not only protecting threatened habitats and species in Nottinghamshire but providing education on how to suport the Nottingham Wildlife. Nottingham Wildlife Trust have also created the Champions of Sherwood campaign. This campaign aims to protect and restore Sherwood Forest and in turn safeguarding the future of Sherwood Forest.

To prepare for the Robin Hood Marathon, I am also running the Nottingham 10k in May and the Derby half marathon in June. I promise I will put 100% into completing the marathon and I will finish it by crawling if I have to!
