In 2013, in a good job ; celebrating the recent birth of my son, and about  to become the Master of the Worshipful Company of Insurers, I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia ( CML ) and seriously ill. Thanks to the prompt and wonderful treatment of Professor Apperley and the team at Hammersmith Hospital, I am very much better and now able to fulfil the role of Master Insurer and enjoy my young son.

Other patients , most very much younger than me, face much greater struggles with this life threatening cancer and in my delayed year as Master Insurer I am determined to raise funds where possible to help continue the cutting edge research into this cancer and help to improve the care and treatment of those other sufferers who are less fortunate than me.
