Story
Hi,
This summer i will be running ten 10k runs in 10 weeks. I could make out its due to something brave like 'It's no big deal to a man like me'. However... it is sort of a big deal. I'm coming up to ** years old, I'm not in the elite physical shape that my body has been accustomed to (LOL) and i'm now at the point where i get out of breath watching people run past my window. So I've decided to get fit and raise some money for two great charities in the process.
Mind UK are a charity that raise awareness and push for improved service, respect and understanding in issues surrounding mental health. They support people who suffer with a range of mental health issues, such as Depression, Anxiety and OCD. This is a charity very close to my heart as I have suffered with Depression and OCD for most of my adult life. The money you donate towards Mind UK will help to save lives of vulnerable people in the UK.
Shine's mission is to help alleviate poverty in Africa (Zambia), by tackling illiteracy among children in some of its poorest parts. To achieve this they have set up illiteracy schools for orphans and vulnerable children within poor African communities. These schools are equipping children with the basic skills needed to escape poverty. The money you donate towards Shine will help to save lives of vulnerable people in Zambia.
So you see, it really is a worthy cause. Just imagine how your donation, small or large, will help to save lives. Immense :-)
Any donation you give will be greatly appreciated and will give me an extra spring in my step.
Due to money constraints I will be planning to run five of the races as organised events. I already have three booked in (London on 12th July, Stratford on 8th August and Tallinn in Estonia on 13th September). The other five events will be solo and alone, somewhere in the UK. I plan to do each one in a different area and some of the solo runs will be in Devon, Suffolk and Kent. I am planning to set up a blog so you can follow the runs and my training, and to generally laugh at me.
