Story
Helvellyn is a mountain in the English Lake District and is the third highest point in England at 950 m (3,120 ft). The scenery includes three deep glacial coves and two sharp-topped ridges (Striding Edge and Swirral Edge). Reaching the summit involves a steep walk or scramble up about 80 m (260 ft) of rough rocky terrain, known as The Abyss. This is the challenge!!!! On the 8th October 2016, we are attempting to walk/crawl/scramble the 8 glorious miles to the top and back in aid of Greggs Foundation Breakfast Clubs.
The Greggs Breakfast Club Programme was established in response to growing concerns that children were attending school without having any breakfast. Most breakfast club schools are in disadvantaged areas and have high numbers of pupils who qualify for free school meals. The clubs need our ongoing support for new equipment to ensure as many children receive this benefit as possible,
