Story

Colin and Jane (average age 62) will be attempting the Gritstone Edge Challenge Walk on 25 June 2016.  This long distance walk starts at Ladybower Reservoir, follows the eastern edges of the Peak District and finishes at Baslow, a distance of 22 miles and an ascent of 3000 ft.

We have been involved with SIFT since the charity started in 2002;  Jane is a trustee and Colin is the UK Director.  We are raising money to support SIFT's fantastic health clinics in Nicaragua.  Every week Dr Sandra and her team of nurses bring healthcare to rural communities on the volcanic island of Ometepe, on Lake Nicaragua.  It's the kind of health service that we take for granted here in the UK, and that really makes a difference to the lives of the poor.

We are hoping to raise at least £1,000 through this challenge, which will fund one of our nurses' salaries for a year.  To find out more about SIFT's medical work, watch the 3 min video at the following link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7iZdGIvH5Y.

We will be walking with Jane's sister, Gill, and our brother-in-law David, who will be raising funds for Bloodwise.  Their Justgiving page is at:  https://www.justgiving.com/Gill-Bishop1
