Story
Firstly can I say thank you so so much to everyone who has made a donation. It will be a great help for the Charity , Love to you all xx
thalassaemia is where your body does not produce red blood cells to carry the oxygen around the body. So Hugo needs a blood transfusion every 4 weeks for the rest of his life.
Having lots of regular blood transfusions comes with its own problems. He will get iron overload which also needs to be removed if not he will have other organ problems
He is our little soldier. Xx
The message with Friends who are helping to raise too...
We are a group of NCT friends who are raising money for UK Thalassaemia Society (UKTS), a charity that has helped a very brave little boy and his parents through a very tough time and who are continuing to help them.
Hugo now 19 months old was born with a rare blood disorder Beta Thalassaemia Major. This disorder means that Hugo’s blood does not produce red blood cells which are needed in order to carry the oxygen around the body. As a result this requires Hugo to have a blood transfusion every 4 weeks for the rest of his life. Hugo did not ask to have this blood disorder but he is a very very brave boy and is coping so well with all the needle prodding, injections and hospital visits. This is just a small snap shot of what Hugo is going through.
In order to raise awareness about Thalassaemia and raise as much money as possible for this outstanding charity, Gurj (Hugo’s dad), Peter, Matt and Rachel have signed up to run the London Marathon.
Please sponsor us to enable UKTS to continue their great work including funding new treatment exploration, research and providing support to sufferers and their families.
UKTS have been a back bone for Hugo’s parents providing emotional support and advice. We want to thank UKTS for their continued work and support through our sponsorship, please do the same by giving as much as you can.
Thank you!
