In memory of Katie Henderson
We use the engaging sport of triathlon to encourage children to become more active

Story

On 12th June 2015, on her way to our triathlon in Staffordshire, my friend and clubmate Katie Henderson was tragically killed in a road traffic accident. Katie was training as a guide with the Great Britain Para-triathlon squad and was hoping to guide at the Rio Paralympics next summer. Your donation will help the British Triathlon Foundation Trust welcome new para-athletes into the sport.
The weekend of Katie's death was the start of my journey to qualify for the World Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii. It's said to be the toughest one day endurance event in the world. The race distances themselves are testing - a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run. But the real challenge is surviving the 35 degree heat, 90% humidity and challenging winds.
I know Katie would've been hugely excited about me qualifying for Kona and she'll be with me as I race. I don't generally ask for charity donations when racing because I'm doing something I love. But this is my tribute to Katie and my way of helping contribute to a cause which Katie was passionate about.
