Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A couple of years ago, my sweet mother-in-law was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. This disease will ultimately challenge her body and mind on a daily basis. My Life Films, is a newly founded charity that uses filmmaking to improve the lives of people like Janie.
Filmmakers from My Life Films meet with dementia patients and their families to conduct an informal interview and identify the most important and impactful moments in that person’s life. Over the next couple of days the family is encouraged to review old photos and stories to see which 5-10 are the most dear. Based on these, My Life Films composes a chaptered film that contains the patient’s favorite photos, video and music. This film sparks the interest of the patient, igniting interaction and recollection of wonderful times. It fosters self-esteem, decreases isolation, provides valuable insight for caregivers, and is a wonderful escape from the challenges and struggles that dementia causes for both patient and loved ones.
This September, Janie and I will travel with Ryan and Don to London for business. While we are there, the Richmond Run Festival will take place, raising funds and support for Alzheimers and Dementia. In honor of Janie, I have entered to run the half marathon and will also raise funds to support My Life Films. With locations already in the UK and Germany, My Life films would be a great organization to have in the US. Please consider joining me in my effort to raise $1000 for this wonderful grass roots organization.
