The Uganites - Tag Rugby Tour to
Uganda 2016
Help us to raise funds for our tour to Uganda – through
coaching and playing tag rugby, we can build and inspire communities to work
together and develop essential life skills.

Thank you for taking time to read our story and learn more
about how you can help us!
We are 'The Uganites' – a group of 12 young people aged
14-18 who attend a weekly youth club called Hackney Quest. We have been
selected for an amazing opportunity to work with the Tag Rugby Trust in a year-long
youth leadership programme. During the year we will learn to lead tag rugby
workshops and develop important skills such as public speaking, fundraising and
safe guarding. The highlight of the programme is a two-week tour to Uganda in
October 2016 and we will also run projects in Hackney, giving something back to
our local community.
To make our tour possible, we need to raise a substantial
amount of money. We have each been set an individual target of £500 to raise,
which is separate to the target goal on this page. We will also be hosting lots
of fundraising events, involving and benefitting our local community.
The tour to Uganda will enable us to help the young people there
to become tag rugby leaders, to develop essential leadership and life skills
and most importantly to build up their own community. Tag rugby is an ideal way
to bring people together; the game is suitable for all ages and genders, and no
previous sports experience is necessary. It is a simple, fun and easy way for
people to communicate and work together as a team. We will also leave the
communities in Uganda with all the resources to create a successful and sustainable
programme, which will carry on long after we have left.
On completion
of the tour, we plan to host a presentation evening, to acknowledge anyone who
donates to our campaign. Thank you in
advance for your generous donations – they will help us to give something back
and make a positive difference to a lot of lives, both at home and abroad.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime, for us and for the communities
in Uganda – so please dig deep into your pockets!
