Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit. If this is new news, sorry to break it via social media! It's the modern world.
Last October I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. I had two operations and am on chemotherapy but specialists are very positive about the possible outcomes. Which is nice!
When in hospital, at 9stone 4lbs, we joked about running the Coventry Half (Feb) or the Hackney Half (May).
Coventry was too soon but I've had in mind that the start of the end of this trip might be marked by a return to strength and the end of my chemo (20th May). Both are very close so here I am.
I'm not going to be fast, but every step makes us stronger.
So why Hackney Quest? They are a local charity supporting children and young adults in the local community. They provide engaging activities to inspire young people and provide rich support to their families. Your money will make a real difference providing kids with opportunities that they might not get otherwise.
Why not a cancer charity? Well, I could have raised money for my hospitals (Barts and Homerton) or Macmillans but while their need is great and I'm eternally grateful for their skill and compassion something tells me they won't notice the money in the same way that Hackney Quest will.
So that's it. My story and why I'd like to support this local charity.
Many thanks, love Ben
