Story
We are a group of friends that regularly take to the hills both in the UK and abroad. Since some of us tackled the Tour du Mont Blanc in 2011 we wanted to test ourselves further, and decided to take up the challenge of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa. Kilimanjaro stands 19,341 feet above sea level, and is the highest free standing mountian in the world.
As this is a big challenge we wanted to raise money for a good cause, and instantly thought of Overgate Hospice. Overgate are situated in our home town of Halifax, and provide specialist palliative care for people living with a life limiting illness.
Unfortunately we all know people who have been cared for at Overgate, and know first hand what a great job the staff there do. Unfortunately as a charity they rely on donations from people such as yourself to keep providing this care. Further information can be found at www.overgatehospice.org.uk.
Please note we are paying for the full cost of the trip ourselves, so every penny that is raised through donations will go directly to Overgate. As we wanted to climb the mountain we thought it unfair to take money from people to pay for the trip.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
