Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm off to Uganda at the end of October with a charity called Wheels for the World, which is part of Through the Roof. This organisation aims to give people increased independence by giving them access to mobility - children are often unable to attend school if they can't walk there, adults are unable to work or have to spend too much money on transport to get there.

Wheels for the World takes old NHS wheelchairs and refurbishes them in prisons in the UK - meaning prisoners have an opportunity to make a positive contribution. The chairs (and crutches, walkers etc.) are then shipped out by container and met by a team of volunteers to fit them for individuals.

Poorly fitting chairs can cause more problems with pressure areas or spinal deformities, so this work is really important.
