As part of the Boots International team, we are raising money for the amazing charity - EORTC - European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer. 

About the Challenge

I LOVE to talk! And I think a fair few people would pay good money for me to be quiet for a while. My aim is to be silent for 2 days – Friday 13th June, and if the target of £500 is hit, I will remain silent for Sunday 15th June as well!!! There are a few different social events over the 2 days (cake Friday at work, and church night out of the Saturday) so this is going to be very tricky!

About the Charity

EORTC is right on the front foot of understanding cancer and developing cutting edge treatments to cure and help people with cancer. We are specifically supporting the colorectal cancer biobank. This is Europe’s first tumour Biobank to speed-up the development of new treatments for colorectal cancer patients.

This is a unique pan-European effort to develop personalised treatments that will benefit individual patients.

By testing patients with advanced colorectal cancer, EORTC can identify those whose results are compatible with a new treatment. These patients may then volunteer to participate in a clinical trial which will enable the development of more effective treatments.

Colorectal cancer is responsible for over 220,000 deaths a year across Europe.

Ultimately, the reason why we’re doing this is simple – we want to understand cancer better so that we can reduce the amount of deaths caused by it.
