Story

Last year I missed the opportunity to start the London Marathon due to a severe back injury but I deferred my place and committed to work as hard as I could to recover physically and emotionally in order to make the 2016 starting line.

So on the 24th April I will be there, ready to face the 26.2 miles, which is more than I ran in total in 2015.

I would not have made it without the unquestioning support of my amazing friends, the dedication of my physio, a tonne of hard work and training all of which has been underpinned by the loves of my life, Owain, Theo and Rowan.

After Rowan was born I went through a tough time. I struggled to bond with and enjoy the blessing that Rowan is.

Joining a beginners running course in 2013 became a way of escaping my thoughts (you can't think of anything but the next step/breath when you begin to run for the first time!) and gradually I began to rebuild my confidence, find my feet again and become a new version of me. I also made friends for life!

So without doubt I am grateful to those who have supported me through this last year, who didn't let me quit when I oh so nearly did, who recognised that the importance of this race is way more than a run. It marks my recovery!
